This is the last series of my journey of being a tourist in Singapore before i start my "world tour" very very soon. There was once i was discussing with my friends, we always want to travel around the world but has we really explored our little green city? That is why for the last two years, i started on writing on attractions here. I have gone to zoos in other countries but somehow, i still like our zoo. The last time i visited the zoo was with my pupils like 5 years ago.
We drove there using SLE, and exit 8A, turn right towards Mandai Road and then left into Mandai Lake road. There is this really big car park and it was already very crowded on Sunday late morning.
Here are afew animals that caught our attention.
And we were given a map at the entrance and as there were many signs there, it is quite easy to find our way around. Not only that, there was this free ranging orang utan island, where they swing freely up in the open. I remember in the past, these orang utans were in enclosures. They made it such that it was a pretty close encounter with the animal.
One should not miss the animal shows, the elephant show especially is super entertaining. Oh, did i mention that it was really hot when we were there, there is not alot of shelter, so be prepared with lots of sunblock, water and caps. Afew times, the weather was so hot, we hide in the frozen tundra area. Umbrellas would be very useful too as it started raining during the late afternoon and as a result we did not get to see the animals in wild Africa cos we did not bring them. :(.
We ended up in the gifts shops. However it was still quite a worthwhile visit, considering that i entered the last time using my corporate pass. One can spend almost a day there if you go for all the animal shows and visit all the enclosures.
