Last night was my first time cycling along the roads with the cars back to my minsu, it was quite smooth as there were not alot of cars and i cycle along the small road. When i was back, i read back the email correspondence i had with them. It was mentioned, to work from 730am to about 3pm, sometimes end early sometimes late ( why is it that most times are late :( ) , work a few hours, off a few days. ( why work 6-7 hours and only one day off a week). My twin also tells me to leave, he finds that i should be happy on this working holiday, but all these work has defeated the purpose of me being there. Whatever it is, i will find a chance to tell them tonight.
In the morning, i cycled to 法彩。 It was a challenging ride as there were more cars compared to last night, and many times i always go into the lane which is in the opposite direction. And i always end up walking and holding the bicycle along the way.
We had a delicious breakfast there and took a cab to go Mei Lun Shan.
At Mei Lun Shan Park, we were told if we walk up, we can see the Hua Lian city view on one side and the sea view on the other side. However, we only managed to get to this pavilion and see only the city view. Not too sure if we are at the right place.
However, along the way in Mei Lun Shan, there is this big patch of grassland which is very comfortable and refreshing to the eyes. We walked out of the place to get lunch. The views outside are just simply breathtaking.
After lunch, we head to the LiYu lake by taking a cab costing 460NT. That is another place with beautiful scenery. We decided to challenge ourselves to cycle around the lake. Renting the bike is just 100NT. Msk mouse is also very brave to cycle with me, it is her first time cycling without supervision and let me tell you how the roads are like, certain paths are narrow and along the way, there were people walking along the cycling paths. If you notice in my right lowest photo, certain pathways leave such a small gap, we do not even have the courage to cycle through, i sure knock into the pillar one lo! There are quite a few steep slopes and certain slopes need so much leg power, many times we walked with the bike ourselves :P.
The last part of the ride is by the road with a designated cycling path. That was very fun as it sort of challenge us to keep straight. We managed to reach the bicycle shop and returned our bikes, almost safe and sound. Something funny was, my friend, while parking the bike, accidentally knocked into the bikes at the side, and the bikes all fall down like the dominoes game, one after another...piang, piang, piang, piang, piang...
We were so paiseh we keep laughing and apologising to the bicycle shop worker, this smiling young chap who told us it is ok. Nevertheless, It was exciting and must applaud msk mouse's courage on her first cycling activity in Taiwan!
We head to the Amei Tribe Cultural village around Ji An Township. There was a performance at 530 and we managed to be there before the show starts. The performance consists of singing and dancing, quite entertaining as there was also interaction with the audience. There were alot of Japanese tourists and the old uncles were very sporting. The entrance fee and performance cost NT 200 though. Actually, this village is not what i expected, very touristy. I was looking forward to something which is like a real village, get to see how they live and maybe try the food by 原住民。
We took a cab back to city and headed to Ziqiang night market. It is my second time there but we just walked around trying the finger foods and was pretty full after that. It was indeed a nice fulfilling day.
When i returned to minsu, i actually told Youzi what i feel. That i was very tired after these cleaning everyday. She said, she arranged the separation of workload of breakfast preparation and room cleaning so that i do not need to wake up so early. She was quite defensive that night, and asked me if i meant that i prefer to wake up at 730 to do breakfast. ( i was thinking, even if i wake up early to do breakfast, everything still ended late during the first week lo).
She said that she gave me 4 rooms to do that day so that i can get used to it faster ( that was only my 11th day) and that i was supposed to work from 730-3pm.( my first week was 630 plus to 4pm plus lo), except for my off days, out of the 10 days, maybe there is only one day that ended before 3, the rest no!
I told her, my initial thought of coming to Hua Lian was supposed to spend it in a more relaxed manner and even if there is work to do, the chores would not be so much with so long hours, she argued that those are for the guests and if i want to see Hua Lian in the most relaxed way, i should not be on a working holiday.
That was it! It seemed like, there is no way i can talk to her. I told her finally, i came here happily, but past few days i was not happy. The work here is taking its toil on me, i cannot even really enjoy the sights here slowly. I had back pains because of the cleaning and i even have nightmare of me cleaning furiously... I told her as Fish would be on leave the next day till Friday 21st, i would still help them out till 21st and leave that day after my chores, And i also mentioned, i really need help when it comes to 4 rooms. At first, she seemed nonchalant about it, like if i want to leave, it is anytime. But she did not mention anything more. I am sure they would need me these 6 days and if they just throw things at me again, i can just pack my luggage and go.
Saying what i felt makes me feel good, at least they know i am serious about it. I really hope things would be better for the next 6days.
