Taiwan working holiday Day 7-9 - A glimmer of hope

Day 7:
This is a very late post, i have been so busy i cannot even remember if i helped with breakfast that day. I only remember in the morning, i received happy news, and that is i would be on leave on the next day. Not only that, i was told that i would not need to wake up in the morning at 630am to prepare breakfast, i would just help with the cleaning of the rooms from around 10-4pm latest. I was sooo happy that even what the dog did was extremely cute to me.

Xiao Luo would most of the time whipped up some simple dishes for lunch and that day, everything ended slightly after 4. I changed to meet Mskmouse for dinner and we proceed to discuss our plans for tomorrow's outing.

I finally have a day off after a week. At first, we wanted to explore Fenglin Township. To get there, we have to take 1121 from the Hualian Transportation Bus Company
and to board the bus from the railway station, which costs only NT106. However, when we asked the bus driver, she said that there is nothing much in Fenglin and asked us to explore Lin Tian Shan which is along the way. We just pay additional NT 23 to get to the bus stop near there. We still need to walk another additional 2km after alighting. It may be a long walk, but the stretch there is very scenic and the air is really fresh. We can see farmers preparing the field for spring. In Lin Tian Shan, it is also a scenic place and we get to know more about railways and forestry.

At Lin Tian Shan

After the walk around, we went to get lunch at the tourist centre before going back to the bus stop. The 1121 bus driver told us to wait there at 220pm so that we are in time to take her bus, if not, we might need to wait another hour or so. She was quite punctual, since it is still early, we decided to check out Fenglin township and alight near the railway station. This place is less city like, and the pace is really slow. Cars are slow, cyclist are also slow. We walked to this Fenglin Hakka Museum. People are very friendly and we even got to try this flower dye activity at the 花手巾植物染工坊, after which we got peanuts from Meihao Peanut, the peanuts have a fragrant smell and the peanut butter tastes good.

After a fulfilling trip of exploration at Feng Lin , we boarded 1121 and head back to Hua Lian city, it took an hour to reach there. The bus actually went past Zhong Hua Road and we had a simple dinner there before we head back. And when i get back, this was my finale dessert which i put into the freezer for quite some time. Thank you 洪姐 and her husband from Singapore.

The next day, i get to woke up late at 8 ish. Cleaning starts only at 10 and when i am done, it was past 4ish again. It was quite tiring and there isn't any free time in between, if i take my own sweet time, i would need to finish at 6, and there were only 2-3 rooms that day. Btw lunch was good, never knew that there is fried rice 便当 available.

In the evening, we met up with A ming阿铭 and his family, our tour guide when we went to Taiwan in 2012. http://jadebottleparadise.blogspot.tw/2013_01_01_archive.html

It seemed like a gathering of old friends who have not met for some time. We chatted and catch up and that night is the night i laughed the most ever since i am in Taiwan.

The restaurant is hidden beside a mechanics shop and one would never expect an Italian restaurant there. Not only that the menu is in the form of a 小书。Reminds us of those days when we were teaching reading activities to our pupils.
Food is of big portion and really good. The one i took was a beer set and everything costs only 360NT not too sure of the final bill as A ming and his wife Ruiwen gave us a treat. Thank you so much for the dinner!

Went back feeling satisfied not expecting that hard times are coming really soon..
