Taiwan Holiday Day 4& 5 - 花莲慢游

I have no idea how people go travelling but to me, i would like to discover and see things that are different from Singapore. The weather on Monday morning is turning warmer but still at a comfortable temperature.I decided to walk and discover Hualien city slowly.

1. Having tea breaks once in a while. This cake shop 弘宇蛋糕 (No. 330號, Zhōnghuá Rd) sells cakes that are worth the price.

2. Checking out the food around the city. 四八高地(No. 32號, Dàtóng St) serves delicious cuttlefish soup and rice.

3. Another afternoon chilling session at 时光1939 and eating one of the nicest 小笼包s at 橄榄园面食馆 (民國路與三民街交岔路口) ,

Like the soup in them

The next day, we decided to explore Guangfu township, taking a train to the station takes less than an hour. We wanted to look for the Tai Ba Lang cultural park. It was written that it was only 1.5km to the place but we walked and walked and just could not find it. However, i love the views along the way. GREENERY!!!

So while asking the villagers along the way, we managed to find the Tai Ba Lang area, this village is mostly where the aborigines stay. After walking around and getting really lost, we decided to just get a cab to bring us to the cultural area.

To our dismay, the place was empty. There was this banner and a number that mentioned we need to make an appointment. Trying my luck, i thought of calling on the spot and see if i can get someone to guide us around. The person on the other line told us, they could not send anyone as the villagers are down at the field farming, told us we can just walk around the place. The area is pretty ulu, we do not dare to go in, so we just walk around. There is this empty kitchen where i think they would serve lunch in 原住民 style to the guests.

Anyway, it is ok, getting lost is also an experience learnt. By the way, if you want to visit, you can call this place at 038703141, book appointment with them first, and they would sort of plan the village life itinerary for you.

Next, we get the cab to take us to 马太鞍湿地。This is like a big natural eco garden with very nice scenery. I think if the flowers are blooming, it would have been wonderful. Good for the eyes!

We went back to Hualien city and decided to look for dinner place, came across this pork ribs restaurant, and for just NT 75, can get one big filling bento set!

Lastly, we went to the one and only department store there to get something from Uniqlo,n the store is quite empty, just a normal departmental store like Singapore.
By the way, most shops closed by 9pm in Hualien, so usually it would be advisable to rest early instead...
