The day in Hualien started from meeting mskmouse's church friends in Facai. They are visiting her and staying here for three days. We brought them out to nice places for lunch and went chatting and chilling at nice coffee places. We also try this gigantic dessert 包心粉圆that is enough to share between six people, at night, we went to try this oyster dish and then we went to Ziqiang night market. I feel that going to night market with a big group is an advantage because we get to share different kinds of food there!

It was my first time to Taroko Gorge and I have always wanted to visit this place. On our way there, we stopped by this shop to get lemon juice and discovered that the poster in Jingxiang is taken here!
We first go to 清水断崖 at Taroko Gorge, where the view is exceptionally beautiful.
Thereafter we went for a 原住民style lunch. The place itself is like a minsu and also provide accommodation for people, it's a scenic place and would be nice to stay in. Imagine looking at the sky at night there among the mountains...
After lunch, we went for hiking at Taroko gorge, we decided on the 2.1km Baiyang trail. Before the trail, there were safety precautions but I feel that the most important one to prepare is the torchlight as some of the tunnels are really dark.
The air is exceptionally fresh as we walked along the trail. The trail is quite easy and you can just immerse yourself in natural greenery.
We first went to the Baiyang waterfall, the water flow is fast and furious and I heard stories that there was this crazy person who jumped in and could not get out. Of course la! So high!!! In the end, helicopters were roped in to pull him up from the cliffs.
The highlight of the day is the shui lian dong 水濂洞, do not worry,we would not see monkeys inside... It is a cave that has water falling down the caves and we are supposed to walk through the cave to see the view from the other side. The water is clear and cooling and A Ming prepared raincoats for us. We took off our shoes and socks and the six of us walked through the dark cave in a single file. Quite exciting and interesting, imagine yourself walking through rocks in cooling water, like massage!!!
The hike back was faster than the hike there and we were tired when we returned to Hualien city.
The next day, I went to meet them at Facai. Weather is extremely hot and I just get a quick lunch outside with mskmouse. We went to visit A Ming's wife at their shop and minsu there. We had a little chat over tea, she treated us to this 大肉丸 which look like soon kueh in sg, just that the fillings inside are pork. We rushed back to have a last dinner with mskmouse's friends and had a walk around. I finally get to try Ah Yang's hot chocolate which was specially recommended by mskmouse, it was rich in dark chocolate, super like!!!
Lastly we went to try the 周家包子 and 公正包子 (公正街)which were side by side. I prefer Zhou jia more especially the 韭菜蒸饺. The night ended with saying a last goodbye to her friends. They are very nice people and I am glad I have made new friends on this trip. Will definitely see them again back in Singapore!
