Mothers' day Charity

On Mothers' Day two weeks ago, I went to participate in this charity drive by the BOSS group to present flowers to mothers. It was a very meaningful activity and despite sleeping only a few hours after celebrating my friend's birthday the night before, i managed to wake up to carry on this mission.

We went to Whampoa market and reach at 730am to listen to the briefing. Each of us has 20 stalks of flowers to give out. When i was walking along the block with the market stalls, some aunties were hesistant in taking the flowers from us. Some mothers did not even know that it was mother's day too. They were quite surprised when we gave them the flowers.

After that, we went to an old folks home nearby and gave the flowers to the old folks. They were very happy and one old lady even came and talk to us in cantonese which i could not really understand.

After everything, we drove to Radin Mas CC where the debrief was held. There were some stage presentations and performances by the Group but i did not manage to stay throughout. I am really too tired after a late night. Overall it was a nice meaningful experience and i would love to participate again next year if time permits!

Special Activities in June 2010

“助人为快乐之本”
This post is long overdue and i realised i have been really lazy. However, there are just many things to keep me occupied that i haven been blogging much lately. I realised much as i tell students not to put too many personal things about themselves online, i have been trying to quality check my blog and make sure not many personal things about me is revealed here.

Whole of June is spent on things that i wanna do and yet can't find time to do. Apart from the usual meet ups with friends and dear, this month, i did not go travelling. I am pretty much disappointed as i really want to travel at least two times a year and due to some problems here and there, i can't travel. ~~~sob sob
I'm going for a big one this dec, & NO ONE shall stop me!

Anyway in June, something that i want to share is on this voluntary work on delivering groceries, i thought since i am pretty free during the weekdays, i decided to help out. Its delivering groceries to those poorer households. It was strenous exercise carrying the 10kg bags of groceries but everything was worth it when you know this is for a good cause. And this was especially so when you see the smiles on the faces of the old folks. Some flats were dark and one feels sad automatically when one goes into the flat.

The whole group of volunteers

At a loss what to do with soooo many bagspassing the bags
It's heavy!!!

& We are done!
