Kindness bestowed
Today, i was out at city hall area and i almost witness an accident.
I was along Hill Street outside Armenian Church waiting for a bus to go home so that i can quickly hide myself in my shades after doing some millia seeds removal treatment. It was about 5pm and at that time bus33 came by, there was an old chinese uncle about 70 plus who was standing quite near the edge of the bus stop. I do not think the bus driver drove very fast but i think somehow the force from the bus arriving caused the uncle to lose his balance and fall. He fell near the back door of the bus and half his body was under the bus!
I was like "OMG"!!! If the bus had carried on driving, the uncle would have been crushed under the back tyres! Fortunately, the bus stopped, and there were people at the bus stop who went immediately to help the poor uncle who seemed also in a state of shock. Two guys came by to help, tried to carry him up from the ground and one took his slippers for him which fall off at the side of the road. While helping, the "dumb" driver opened the back door of the bus and it almost hit the two guys and the uncle too! One of the guys, this young malay chap was so angry he came to the front and scolded the driver, i think he was reprimanding him for driving so fast and that he should have slowed down when he see the old uncle. Furthermore, they were trying to help the old uncle stand up, and yet this driver still open the back door. The driver talked to him in malay, and he seemed remorseful too. So apparently, the young chap stopped lecturing him and they helped the old uncle up the bus. The driver in the bus helped to clean up his leg and i believe he also asked the uncle if he is ok. The young chap went to the bus behind and told the bus driver to overtake bus 33 cos the driver need to attend to the uncle.
What did i see out of this whole drama?
1. It may be just a small drama but all these while, i looked at the two guys with utmost respect, especially the young malay chap. He looked fierce with some tatoos on his arms and my first impression of him, is someone i would not want to deal with or talk to. However his strong sense of justice amazes me, he is brave to come out and reprimand the wrongdoers, something that alot of youngsters nowadays would not dare to do so. I can conclude looks are definitely deceiving. Maybe those well dressed and decent looking ones would be those who would not even lend a helping hand.
2. I see harmony among the races. Something that it should be encouraged. As long as any elderly needs help, regardless of race, we should always render help to them, isn't it? I overheard the chap telling this other indian uncle, that uncle very old already, fall until like that...
3. I feel that there is 人情味 in Singapore. I have received comments that many of our people are pretty selfish, and only care about themselves but no, it is not. It is just that people love to talk about the negative things that are happening. Shouldn't we talk more about the good and kind things that are happening around us instead? Kindness starts from us, isn't it?
After this minor incident, i am also constantly reminding myself, not to be affected by societal changes, (people tend to enjoy negative stories),and to always share positive happenings everywhere!

My Birthday
My birthday is on racial harmony day and this year it falls on a Sunday. I organised a dinner gathering with some of my closest friends at Hyang Tol Gol restaurant in Amara hotel two days before it. It was supposed to be a dinner for 14 people but apparantly, some of them told me last minute, that they are tied up with work and could not make it so it was reduced to 10. But still, i am glad i have them to agree to celebrate this day with me.
Food at the restaurant was relatively good. The waitress would help to barbeque the food for us and i enjoyed the nong ju ( they said it was the makgeoli), the drink does not have a strong alcohol taste and is a little on the sweet side. We had a good time catching up and sharing on the latest updates of what is happening in our lives now. To end it all, they had planned a cake for me and with it a bday song. :)
Thank you my dear friends!
Not forgetting other friends who have sent me birthday greetings through other modes of communication, be it whatsapp, facebook, thank you for your birthday wishes despite all your busy commitments. I feel very blessed to have you all! :)

Lately...it was dawned upon me that i am still single. Perhaps that was because i watched too many dramas like Taiwanese drama "败犬女王” and Korean drama“我们结婚吧” . Both these dramas depict women in their 30s who are still looking for love. In the Taiwanese drama, the female lead is 33 years old who is a high flier in her career and she actually end up with this man 8 years younger...and in the Korean drama, it talked about how 34year old successful career woman found her love one and handle marriage and giving birth at a later age. Initially i was pretty cool, "aiya no bf no bf lo" I have the time to do what i want and the chance to indulge in "drama ma ma la la land" and not have any worries that " hey i neglected my bf or something"
However recently, receiving too many...really too many wedding invitations from my close friends and looking at my friends wedding pictures...i start to ponder...hey y am i still single? Am i really that bad? Do i have like super bad character? Am i not good looking and presentable at all? Am i not academically qualified?
"You are too picky la...your expectations too high..."
That was what my friends tell me but was i wrong to expect to find someone of equal or even higher standing with me? I am not looking for super good looking dudes with well trained model like guys...No!!! I only want someone presentable whom i can depend on and who would share life experiences with me. Someone who can provide security and make me feel like a 小女人 in front of him. Someone whom i idolises and share his knowledge about the world with me. Someone whom i know would be the one when i see him...
"this is hard...how do you know that person is the one???"
I asked this question to a friend who answers me this..." you would know it...it is the feeling...it just comes" ...i find it hard to comprehend...Something that till now i do not understand. I go around listening to love stories of friends and colleagues. When things happen, they just happen. 要挡都挡不了…!Most stories involve people who dun really know each other at first, but when one saw the other, immediately the guy wants to know the gal and think that she is the one. Amazing isn't it?
"So you got to start by knowing people first!!! With the kind of schedule and numerous personal activities you are having, how are you going to meet new people? FB? MSN???"
I admit i am a drama queen, who likes to stay at home watching korean & taiwanese dramas. Not only that, i am a loner...i can go jogging alone, go gym alone, do kickboxing alone, shop alone, eat alone...in fact if i have the time, i can sing alone too... That is how anti social i am...i tried to attend more events, like parties or even events...however...i actually got quite sick and tired of knowing new people this year especially, its like i actually enjoyed catching up with old friends at the parties more than knowing new people. & to say the truth...or perhaps its just me...i find some new people at parties very "hypocritical"...i mean some...not all...
Knowing people through facebook and conversing through the net is worse! Online is deceiving...we cannot hear the other party's voice and it is not easy knowing how the person feel. Some people can put themselves single, but they can be already attached or worse still married even! (Sorry to say...this is done by both men and women) However, i guess if i do know someone online, I think the best way to know him better is still through the traditional way...using the phone and personal meet ups...
"join social networking events and sites"
Ok i am actually a member of SDU since my company provides corporate membership. This is something interesting...MOE actually has a SDS coordinator who provide services for single people to find partners. So there was once i met up with my coordinator who asks me to fill up this really long questionaire and i come to know that there is actually quite a number of singles in my organisation. I feel pretty 丢脸, in the past when i see events from SDU, i just glanced through and put aside everything, i am super confident that i do not need to be a member. (moreover during that time i was attached) now...it seemed that i am trying to find worthwhile activities to go out. My coordinator arranged for one session for me with this guy, he is in every aspect an eligible bachelor, not as tall as what i wanted though. However i guess there are no sparks between us...he did not call me at all and i was not eager to wait for his call too.
Does that mean he is not the one? Then i wonder how many more such "matchmaking" sessions am i suppose to go for before knowing the one.A part of me is craving for companionship but another part of me is telling me that it is such a tiring process, can he just drop down from the sky and tell me, hello i am the one!
My colleugue tells me, “不要强求,这是急不来的” I guess i just got to go with the flow, there is no harm knowing more people, i shall just accept the single "golden pass" to widen my social circle and get to know people who are sincere and not be bounded by the restrictions of being attached. I still believe, my special someone is waiting for me somewhere...
This reminds me of this song...Especially the very last part of the chorus...

Attitude of Gratitude
I've been catching up on reading lately and this was an article i read about in a magazine called iKnow. I would just summarise everything.
Sometimes when we feel that life is not smoothsailing, we just need to count our blessings. Scientific studies have shown that they are beneficial to our health. Grateful people experience higher levels of positive emotions and is able to cope more effectively with everyday stress. Experiencing gratitude leads to increased feelings of connectedness, improved relationships and even altruism.
Start counting your blessingss today with 7 simple things you can do daily:
1. Every night before going to bed, reflect on the positive things that happened throughout the day. They can be as simple as someone being kind or praising the wonderful weather. Write them down in a Gratitude Journal and read your entries when you feel down.
2. Practise a positive mindset and habit when you are among friends. If you want to be supportive, kind, smart, energetic, and positive, look for characteristics in others. Avold friends that bring negative topics and feelings as much as you can. Make a pact with your friends to stop complaining in your conversations.
3. Get your family and friends involved to support and remind each other daily.
4. Create a positive environment by displaying positive memories of photos, cards and gifts around you to remind you of things you are grateful for.
5. Make a habit to say "Thanks" or write thank you notes when you get the chance.
6. Take time to appreciate nature - from flowers to mountains to stars. Notice only things that are beautiful. Take a deep breath and give thanks for the beauty that surronds us.
7. Focus on what you have - not on what we don't have.
OK i am going to get started tonight with my Gratitude Journal!!!
" Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn alot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so let us all be thankful."

A very dramatic experience
Something happened to me yesterday...which don't make me feel very good. I always thought such things only happen in dramas but it happened in real life too.
Actually the story supposed to end but forgiving me decides to carry on the "friendship"...
I have more or less forgotten the ambiguous relationship with him and decides to catch up just as friends do after 5 months. So we actually planned to meet up yesterday. Before the meet up, he actually suggested to go swimming after dinner which i objected. I don't feel good swimming with him, when i have not seen him for 5months and it is very troublesome bringing all my toiletries and stuff...(This was because i thought he wanted to swim like maybe the condo areas in town)...So he was like ok that we skip swimming. Then towards the meet up time at 7 plus, he sms me that he will pick me up in Bugis area since i would be there settling something. Things start to go sour after that...he sms again,"you really never bring your swim wear ah, i'm at gallery hotel and there is a pool bar here. Actually i want to take a nap, so maybe you come over to find me here."
To the gals: How do you feel when a guy whom you have not met for some time ask you to go HOTEL to swim, and that you have to look for him instead? (I feel extremely weird and scared, what is he trying to do? & I keep emphasizing i do not want to swim already)
To the guys: Would you ever ask a gal to go to the Hotel to look for you and swim when it is like 5months since you last met? Shouldn't it be just a normal dinner date to talk and catch up?
so, instead of fetching me, he actually want me to go to gallery hotel to find him...I was not very much affected yet but i dislike the idea of going there myself. So i asked him jokingly if he is suntanning anot (cos take nap wat) , and added that i am not interested to go to the hotel to meet him and asked if we can eat elsewhere. He replied," i have a room here and i am lazy to drive over, so i thought we can just eat here at the hotel. "
The thought of having a hotel room there make me wonder even more, maybe i am just being too imaginative but since it is supposed to be just a simple meet up, why is there a room involved???
I replied," since you are tired, we should meet another day."
I cannot stand the idea of going to the hotel alone...it is like going to the tiger's den...
He replied," No i'm ok. Thought we already said to have dinner, pool dip in which you can just sit by the pool side bar and drinks? Y change the meet up? Ok i 'll pick you up at 7 then."
So i thought everything is ok...he will come fetch me...Then the most drama one is the last message, he sms," so you really don't want to come here by yourself, or i pay for your cab la!"
Hey, what does he think i am? Am i not important enough even as a friend? Somemore gallery hotel and bugis is not very far. And am i not capable enough to pay for my cab fare? I feel that he is like looking down on me like that. Miss Jadebottle has her pride and principles lo!!! If i am to go there myself by cab, do you know what it feels like? It is like a bloody social escort!!! I'm sorry, i just cannot help thinking this way. I feel that as a friend, at least meet me first before going for dinner together, not "cheapening" myself by going there alone...(actually if meet at a crowded convenient place,i don't mind and i won't feel so funny, but going to the hotel...?)
I was very pissed already! I replied," I am not very happy with your last sms. I can always make my own way down and pay for my own transport. I have no mood to meet you now. You go find your friends ba!"
His reply is damm sarcastic," But you sounded like its like that. Anyway i don't like to drive around that area because its very jam. I can have dinner by myself...No big deal..."
I stopped all my messages with him. My patience has reached the limit. I do not know if i did the right thing by giving him the Boeing 747 this time or if i imagined too much and was too paranoid. My dear friends, what do you all think?
Anyway from this incident, i know he can just disappear from my life from now. I don't even want to have a friend like him. So what if he is rich and driving a black Audi TT, he is just an AH SIA spending his parents' hard earned money...Oh my what a JERK!

Friends
These few days i have this question in my mind...What is the definition of friends?
With the popularity of facebook coming up, it seemed everyone can be friends with each other, building their very own network of friends in their profile....BUT is it really so? Are they really your very very true friends? To me, i have 4 categories of friends.
Best friends: I have a few best friends only. Those whom i can talk and share everything under the sun, perhaps even my " darkest" secrets. Whom we would make a point to talk to each other almost everyday, whom i know i dun need to be reminded to share my things with because everything is out of my own free will.
Good friends: These friends are categorised as we do talk but some secrets are still kept hidden...
Normal friends: They are those whom you can communicate and those who we try to meet maybe a few times in a year.
Acquaintances: Friends' friends. Those whom we will meet when we go for "mass" gatherings and parties
However, with all these social networking sites coming up, they made it like everyone knows each other. For eg, A and B are good friends, so A thinks that B's friends are his/her friends, so A goes around messaging B's friends whom were also added into A's profile.
I've got a very important question, if A has not even seen or even talked to B's friends before, how can they be considered as friends? Unless they have been messaging actively ( AND I REALLY MEAN ACTIVELY) till both are comfortable to be "promoted" to friends level. If it were me, (Ok maybe it is just me) i'll feel extremely weird. Imagine i have a friend called "Harry", then one day this "Tom" message me said ," Hi!!! I'm Harry's friend! ." You know i be like thinking....so what! I dislike it when people tries to use their friends as the excuse. A friend of mine told me her guy friend goes around adding her friends using her name lo!!! I think i will dislike it too if i know my friends be it guy or gal go around adding my friends whom they have never met.
Worse still, some people "suka suka" add without any message...SO RUDE!!!
In addition, i realised some profiles...ok maybe i'm just prejudiced....i kinda pissed off with profiles with many friends perhaps 500....BUT out of 500, 480 are gals (For a guy's profile) , n the 480 are those very chio...or at least not bad looking ones! Please la, how can that be right..., how can a guy who lived for 20 over to 30 years know just a few guys friends in his life?
Next...i have an issue with acquaintances. Some "friends" are added because i have the thinking that they are nice people and can keep in contact. But these "friends" can be in your profile but they cannot even be bothered to talk to you. Even when we send a simple Hi, they DID NOT EVEN REPLY!!! RUDE RUDE! I feel that there is no need to be arrogant. If you are busy, just say so la, or leave a msg after that. If not, i think i can just say BYE to these friends,no point leaving them in my profile.
Right now, i am currently spring cleaning my profile of friends. Those friends whom i think i can dun bother having them, you be off my list very soon. I usually dun add strangers, unless you try to correspond first sincerly with messages and of course you are not up to anything funny. If not, you want me to add you? Wait long long...

Another confusing experience
I went to City Harvest with a gal friend today. There was this FIR performance so i thought no harm going over there. Anyway everything seemed like a rock concert.
As usual, since it is a church event, there is bound to be service. Actually i went to City Harvest in 2005. At that time it was in Kallang indoor stadium i think. I was very much intimidated when everyone start to raise their hands and speak in "tongues" (i am not sure if that is the right spelling) That time i was also pretty angry with my friends who brought me there as i was very much a big light bulb in between the two of them. (Aiya long story la) Today when i went there, when they start speaking like that, i was trembling like mad. Imagine the whole expo hall of dunno how many thousands of people speaking like that and there were some who actually cried too. And then after FIR performed, they were also asked to share how much they have changed after accepting Christ. Everything seemed touching and the way Reverand Kong talk seemed humorous and interesting. & he said things like the believers of Christ are saved and would go to heaven. I was like wondering there are so many religions on earth, so those who believed staunchly in other religion can't go? They teach good values too what! I think religion is a very confusing thing!

Does the past matter?
Recently, this question has been bothering me
Does someone's past really matter?
I always thought it doesn't matter and although having said so, the curious heart sometimes still wishes to know...
AND what if...what if...
you discovered something bad that you do not wish to know; that it somehow affects the relationship and your decisions and your actions...
Perhaps ignorance is really bliss...

Valentine's Day
I HATE VDAY...
(To those who don't wanna get depressed, then do not continue reading)
I never think that vday is that special, even when i was 17 and i received my first supposingly vday gift from a guy (i was fr a gals sch)...As i grow older, this day to me was friendship day as all my fellow girl frens are all like me...single and free...(my concept is this day can only be spent with very good frens or my that special one). When i know my ex bf 2yrs back, i thought finally i can spend this day more fulfilling, however, i realised its nothing much.
Last year's vday was spend at home, engrossed in work. Today i initially wanted to spend it at home too after school, but went out for dinner with a very good fren. The streets are filled with so many lovey dovey couples with flowers in their hands....i felt damm bloody uncomfortable and in addition i keep harboring the thought that i have not finished my assignment. Therefore after dinner, i decide i must escape from this "reality", i must go home!
Ok, i have no dates so wat!(i just cannot go out with anyone that i have no feelings for rite and my girl frens now mostly attached...), no vday gifts, no flowers (i 'm not crazy about flowers but...peer pressure works)...
I am starting to feel more and more inferior and less confident of myself. Sometimes i wonder should i just continue in my search for my 理想情人 "dream lover"or just accept anyone that comes into my life....haiz...
